Oyo CP Seeks Strong Collaboration with Judiciary, Charges Ethical Journalism

The Oyo Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams, has called to solidify the already existing synergy and deepen the legacy of mutual respect between the Judiciary and other sister security agencies, and equally called on news curators to embrace ethical reportage as regards public sectors in charge of the security of lives and properties.  


Adebowale made these appeals when he led members of his management team on a congratulatory visit to the newly sworn-in Honourable Chief Judge of the state, Justice Iyabo Yerima, on Friday, at the esteemed premises of the Oyo State Judiciary, High Court Ring Road, Ibadan Oyo state.


In the press statement signed by the Police Public Relation Officer, SP. Adewale Osifeso, reads in part, “At the event, the Commissioner of Police applauded the elevation of the Acting Chief Judge to the exalted position asserting that it was most deserved especially  at  a time when the State is navigating towards the general elections and only best hands must be on deck to maintain the relative stability and peaceful ambience in the State.


“So also, there was a rich session of cross-pollination of gainful ideas bothering around building workable ideas to increase the proficiency of standard investigation and prosecutorial procedures, swift dispensation of justice for offenders and standardizing the Administration of Criminal Justice System.




“In her remarks, the Hon. Acting Chief Judge of Oyo State, My Lord Justice, Iyabo Yerima appreciated the Commissioner of Police and his entourage and promised to build a formidable judicial partnership with the Command under her watch.


The statement equally included that, “This puts to rest spells of rumors that made the rounds last week on some social media platforms regarding an alleged Face-off  between the Police and the Judiciary in Oyo State as being completely untrue, mischievous and a figment of the author’s twisted imagination”
