The PiP feature dubbed Picture-in-Picture mode which was rolled out in January for the iOS users, will now allow Android users view videos within a chat window, without opening third party pages or apps.

The feature, according to IndianTimes, was earlier available in October for Android beta users running Android operating system (OS version 4.4 and above) only.

How PiP feature Works

  • Whenever you receive a YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram video on WhatsApp, the link when clicked, will no longer take you outside WhatsApp.
  • There’s a play button; tapping it expands the video to the top of the chat and starts playing right within the app.
  • You can still chat and type as you view the video because the entire WhatsApp conversation remains active underneath the streaming video.

To enjoy the Picture-in-Picture mode feature, update your WhatsApp to the latest version 2.18.380 which is available at Google Play.

Are you feeling the PiP feature already?
