The timely intervention of operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) saved dancehall/pop singer, Timaya, from being robbed of his valuables by youths of Bayelsa state shortly after performing at the All Progressive Congress (APC) mega rally, yesterday, August 15, Metroparrot reports.

Timaya who was ushered into the jam-packed stadium by armed policemen was left unprotected after performing as the policemen around escorted political bigwigs out of the stadium.

He left the stage with a few youths who tried to escort him out of the stadium but other youths joined and tried to steal Timaya’s gold chains and sunglasses but the ‘sanko’ singer quickly removed his valuables and kept it in his pocket.

The youths who were expecting the musician to ‘settle-them’ continued to harass Timaya until some DSS operatives who recognised the music star sprayed tear gas to scare the youths away.

Timaya who is a Bayelsa indigene was subsequently escorted out of the sports complex by the DSS officials through another gate.
