The third edition of Yoruba Party, a cultural event aimed at promoting Yoruba heritage, is set to take place on December 15, 2024, at the Race Course Amphitheatre, Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.
The program seeks to bring the community together to celebrate the different identities that unite and elevate the Yoruba people.
In an interview with ITSALLISAY.COM, Oredola Ibrahim and Ayo Adams, founder of Atelewo and organizers of Yoruba Party, said the event is designed to promote Yoruba culture, foster community engagement, and empower the next generation of leaders. The event, which has gained popularity since its inception, promises to be an exciting celebration of Yoruba music, dance, art, and tradition.
Ibrahim expounded on the motivation behind Yoruba Party, explaining that the event aims to promote Yoruba language and culture. He also assured that this year's edition will be bigger and better, featuring an exciting lineup of performances and activities.
“We created Yoruba Party to bring back the pride of our heritage. Our goal is to make Yoruba culture fashionable and attractive to the younger generation. A lot of people, especially Gen Z and Millennials, have lost touch with Yoruba culture. This event aims to reposition the culture for Gen Z and Millennials, making it fashionable and attractive.
He further explained that the event will feature different groups, such as Egbe Onikoko, Egbe Majeobaje, Egbe Agbe, Egbe Omode, Egbe Amuludun, and others.
“Our long-term vision for Yoruba Party is to promote economic and social interests through these groups. By leveraging these groups, people can pool resources together, and foster community development and societal growth,” Ibrahim added.
Despite the challenges faced by the organizers, including securing sponsors, they remain committed to their vision.
Ayo Adams, one of the organizers of Yoruba Party, stated, "Organizing an event of this magnitude is no easy feat. You must have faith in sponsors and well-wishers who promise financial support. However, when the funds fail to materialize, you often have to dig into your own pockets to ensure the event's success.”
Adams advised young people to be consistent and committed to their goals.
“Whatever they set their mind on, they can achieve it. If you have a dream, begin to build it from one level to another. It is only a matter of time. Something you start from the corner of your room can gain global appeal. I always advise interested individuals to have endurance and be focused on their journey. At first, it is difficult, but later it becomes a fun part of you.”
He also called on the federal government to partner with young minds for a better economy.
“The government should reach out and form alliances with young people who are innovating and contributing positively to the country.”
The third edition of Yoruba Party promises to be an exciting and memorable event. With its rich cultural heritage and commitment to community development, Yoruba Party is an event not to be missed.
