HYGIENE QUEST: OVER 1 MILLION STUDENTS IMPACTED AND STILL COUNTING

Hygiene Quest started in 2020 as Naija-WASH by DEAN Initiative

With the support from Dettol Soap, the project has indeed scaled and spreading like fire. Created to curb the menace of uncontrolled level of infectious diseases among pupils in schools resulting from poor hygiene behavior practice, Hygiene Quest target the most vulnerable and pupils in Public Primary Schools.

It is no doubt that infectious disease hamper quality learning and affects general academic performance of pupils. Hygiene Quest is using classroom-based teaching exercise to inspire new hygiene behavioral practice that are now dramatically changing narratives.

Youth volunteers enrolls as Hygiene educators with DEAN Initiative and after training are deployed to schools to volunteer for a season to teach and monitor changes. The impact and success stories have encouraged other youth volunteers across the country to continue to replicate the program in schools around them.

This is another example of homegrown initiative that is solving problems around education, health, and sanitation.
