DAWN, UNIOSUN Partner to Survey and Document Plant Resources in Southwest Nigeria

Biodiversity Conservation Research Project for the Southwest of Nigeria become a reality under the direction of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and the Director General, of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission as members of the parties leaderships met to seal the over four months strategy efforts of both parties teams, to work together on plants biodiversity documentation and research towards developing robust regional database and genebank for conservation strategies and economic purposes.

This meeting was attended by representatives from all stakeholders involved in the process since its commencement, including the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Council of Obas from Osun State, Nigeria, as well as technical consultants and scientists.


This marked the end of the mobilization phase of the project and the beginning of the action phase and proper execution. This project would run from 2022 to 2024, with a final review of reports for the following phase when completed.
