Here is Why YouTube, Gmail, and Snapchat Were Down in Some Parts of US

Yesterday, Google's Cloud Servers were down in some parts of US.

High levels of network congestion occurred in the eastern USA, affecting multiple services in Google Cloud, G Suite and YouTube.

This affected YouTube, Snapchat, Gmail, Nest, Discord, and a number of other web services that relied on Google Cloud Service.

YouTube Users also reported outage in a number of countries worldwide on Down Detector and #YouTubeDown was trending on Twitter while the outage lasted.


Google’s issues started at around 3PM Eastern Time (ET) / 12PM Pacific Time (PT) / 7PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), Jun 02, 2019, according to Google Cloud Status Dashboard and the issues were resolved within 4 hours.

Google noted that,

We will conduct an internal investigation of this issue and make appropriate improvements to our systems to help prevent or minimize future recurrence.

We will provide a detailed report of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation.

This detailed report will contain information regarding SLA credits.
