According to Qatar Living, WhatsApp calls are now unblocked in Qatar and residents no longer need the services of Virtual Private Network (VPN) to bypass restrictions.

WhatsApp call was available in Qatar until early 2017 when disruption occurred and access was limited to messaging alone.

WhatsApp wasn't the only application affected, according to reports, voice calls through other chat apps like Skype, Viber and FaceTime were also affected.
VoIP calls are much cheaper than direct calls and have been highly advantageous particularly for expats and workers who have families living in their home countries.
