MacKenzie Bezos is About to Become World’s Richest Woman

MacKenzie Bezos, wife of Amazon Inc founder, Jeff Bezos is about to become one of the world's richest women.

That is because she's divorcing her husband of 25 years.

The couple in a joint statement via Jeff Bezos Twitter page on Wednesday (yesterday) morning announced their decision to divorce after 25 years of marriage, according to CNBC.

The decision to divorce comes after "a long period of loving exploration and trial separation," the couple says in the statement.

Bloomberg's most recent estimate says any divorce settlement the couple reach could be one of the largest ever, considering Bezos' massive wealth.

Jeff Bezos net worth is roughly $137 billion USD.

An even split would make MacKenzie, an author, the richest woman in the world with about $69 billion USD.

Presently, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, the granddaughter of the founder of cosmetics manufacturer L’Oreal SA, is the richest woman in the world, with a net worth of $45.6 billion USD, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people.

MacKenzie Bezos will still join the three-comma club even if she receives as little as 1 percent of  the  $137 billion USD Jeff Bezos fortune.
