ICT Industry Mourns ‘Mama Computer’ – Omatek CEO and Founder, Florence Seriki

Omatek CEO and Founder, Florence Seriki has been confirmed dead. She died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital after battling cancer of the pancreas. 'Madam Computer' as she was called was the former president of Information Technology Association of Nigeria.


The graduate of Chemical Engineering, University of Ife, Ile-Ife began her journey into the ICT Industry as a computer vendor before she started Omatek Computers Limited – Africa’s first computer assembling plant with factories in Nigeria and Ghana.

Omatek Computers Limited is the first factory to locally assemble Computer cases, Speakers, Keyboards and Mouse, other than Computer systems and Notebooks in the whole of Africa. The assembling of these components in this factory has created a great advantage to other systems builders as well as resellers all over Africa for retailing.

In 2008, Omatek Computers Limited was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and was the only technology company listed on NSE during that period.

In 2016, The Federal Government of Nigeria engaged Omatek Ventures Plc, to help the country tackle one of its MAJOR problem – Power Supply. Omateks involvement will help enhance 24/7 power supply in the country by providing 50KVA three-phase off-grid solar solution.

Madam Computer's death is a big blow to the Nigeria ICT Industry.
