37 Years After, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Becomes Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology

Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has signed into law a bill upgrading Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, the state owned polytechnic, to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, Abeokuta. The governor gave his assent at the state’s Executive Council meeting which held at the governor’s office in Abeokuta.


The governor also signed into law the bill to re-establish the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia in Yewa area of the state.

While commending the state house of assembly for their effort in the swift passage of the bills, he also noted and assured that all necessary documents to ensure the successful takeoff of the institutions has been put in place and sent to the appropriate quarters.

MKO University and Ogun state polytechnic, according to the governor will be ran on different campuses.  The upgrading of MAPOLY to MAUTECH is expected to boost science and technology in the state.

Ogun State house of assembly speaker, Ishola Adekunbi, in an interactive session with newsmen after the event, said their swiftness in the passage of the bills was in line with the prospect and opportunities the institutions would attract to the state.

It should be recalled that the state government had on Jan 31 passed the MKO Abiola University Bill and the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, Bill.
