#WorldCup 2014: Luis Suarez Banned, To Pay £65,000 (N18M)

Uruguay striker and Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has been banned for four months from all football activities after being found guilty of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini.

According to a statement from FIFA which reads: ‘The player Luis Suarez is to be suspended for nine official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on Saturday, June 28, 2014. 


‘The remaining match suspensions shall be served in Uruguay’s next FIFA World Cup matches, as long as the team remains in the competition, and/or in the representative team’s subsequent official matches. The player Luis Suarez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four months.’ Suarez is also banned from entering any stadium in which Uruguay is playing while he serves the nine-match suspension.


Suarez will pay a fine of £65, 000 (N18M)  and will not take part in nine consecutive matches for Uruguay. He has also being banned from entering any stadium in which Uruguay is playing while he serves the nine-match suspension.
