The Chairman of Caretaker Committee for New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ekiti state, Dr. Oluyinka Folahan, has congratulated the executive governor of Kano State, His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusus over the judgement of the Supreme Court that affirmed his victory in the last governorship election in the State.
This was contained in a press statement he personally signed in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, where he described the decision of the apex court as commendable and the last hope of the masses.
He added that the decision of the court to respect the people’s mandate during the last election shows respect for democratic values at this developing stage.
According to him: “The narrative of Nigerian democracy is gradually changing for the better as the judiciary remains a cardinal pillar in upholding the people’s mandate. The victory of NNPP in Kano at the Supreme court is a clear indication that there’s restoration of hope in Nigeria.”
“The Nigerian judiciary has shown that it will continue to protect country’s democracy. We are happy that Yusuf’s victory is the people’s victory. It is very disheartening that some political jobbers from APC wanted to steal away our mandate. Now, we’ve taken back our mandate and its time to fulfil his promises to the people. His affirmation is the restoration of hope for the people.
Folahan equally noted that “the philosophy of NNPP will positively affect Kano state, and the kind of unprecedented greatness that await the state economically will set the pace in a bid to change the narrative of leadership in Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.
