Nigeria to digitize Aso Rock with N200 million

The appropriated cost of this digital makeover of the State House is contained in a 2023 supplementary budget bill submitted to the National Assembly which has now passed second reading.

This computerization and digitization is not unconnected to the mandate of the Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani to reposition Nigeria’s ICT sector for further advancement.

The digital transformation of the State House if approved and completed will enhance government operations’ efficiency and transparency.

This initiative represents a crucial stride in the Nigerian government’s endeavor to pivot towards the opportunities presented by digital technologies while reducing reliance on archaic operational models of the State House.

Although, Nigeria is recognized as Africa’s largest ICT market, boasting 82% of the continent’s telecoms subscribers and 29% of internet users, the country still has grounds to cover in terms of digital compliance

Over the next five years, the country is expected to contribute to more than 55% of the projected increase in subscriber numbers in sub-Saharan Africa, a region poised to be the world’s fastest-growing with a compound annual growth rate of 4.6%.
