Comrade Awokoya Oriyomi Yusuf, the Director General and National Coordinator of Asiwaju Focus Noni (Focus Noni), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the governors of Lagos and Kano states following the recent favorable decisions in the Court of Appeal.
On Wednesday, the appellate court affirmed the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, in the March 18 governorship poll in Lagos State. Additionally, in Kano State, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the ruling of the Election Petitions Tribunal, confirming Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the rightful winner of the March 18 election.
In his reaction to the judgments, Awokoya emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of governance by ensuring equal chances and the application of the law to every citizen, allowing them to seek redress in the court of law.
“The court decisions mark a significant affirmation of the people's mandate in Lagos and Kano states. The judicial process has once again underscored the importance of ensuring a fair and impartial legal system for all citizens. This victory not only upholds the principles of justice but also reinforces our collective commitment to a democratic society,” he said.
He added, “We extend our appreciation to the governors of Lagos and Kano states for their dedication to fostering youth-inclusive governance. By following the path set by President Tinubu's renewed hope agenda, the governors not only ensure the representation of all citizens but also build a future where the aspirations of the youth are central to the governance narrative.
“This commitment reflects a vision for inclusive governance that resonates with the values of our democracy, creating opportunities for the youth to actively contribute to shaping the future of our states,” Awokoya noted.
