After what seems to be a highly successful school hygiene education campaign, spanning over 200 schools in Lagos state, the Lagos Primary Education Board and the Governor’s office on SDGs decided to host DEAN Initiative and all its Hygiene Education Volunteers in a special recognition and Award Giving Day.
A ceremony that witnessed variety of activities was chaired by the SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King on 26th November, 2021 at the Lagos SUBEB Event Hall, Maryland Lagos.
The Chairman applauded the selflessness of the young people as he described them as change makers. He noted that the dream for quality education, SDG 4 cannot be achieved without an enabling environment, and sustainable good hygiene practice is key to good enabling environment for quality education.
Semiye Michael while receiving his Hygiene Education Innovation Leadership Award thanked the Board and the Chairman most importantly for supporting this project and opening access to all schools.
He also thanked Dettol Soap team for believing in DEAN Initiative. He praised the doggedness of the over 200 Lagos Hygiene Education Volunteers.
Other Awards given include: Hygiene Behavior Community Outreach Award to Awosojo Olajoke, Teaching Innovation Award- Oguntoyinbo Shola Phebian, Hygiene Educator Award- Elizabeth Alagbe.
